2010 Dates are July 8, 9 & 10
The Kenai River Classic is an annual three-day invitation fishing event held each July to raise funds for habitat restoration projects, fisheries education, research and management. The event has raised more than $12 million over the last 15 years.
Policy and government leaders from across Alaska join with celebrities, dignitaries and executives from some of the nation's top corporations to network and to fish for king salmon. The Classic offers the perfect opportunity to showcase the positive efforts and people behind a lot of the work that is being done to preserve one of the world's greatest sportfishing rivers. Over 200 dedicated volunteers donate their time, as well as services and auction items to the event. Each year hundreds of thousands of dollars goes directly back into the Kenai/Soldotna economies through lodging, food, guides, tours and transportation during the event.
Several awards are announced in conjunction with the Kenai River Classic including the Kenai River Guardian Award for lifetime achievement and the Professional Sportsmen of the Year.
